By Alex Bramer
My name is Alex, I'm 15 and also 1/2 of the synthpop duo In On It. I enjoy writing, both music and literature. I like all things 80's-whether it be music, art or hardware. I'm into many different genres, from Chillwave to Synthwave to Witch House to Surf Rock. I collect cassette tapes-old and new, and like jamming out to the early work of Toro Y Moi on vinyl. I look forward to reviewing many albums from many of the great artists in this awesome scene.
'The Beginning (Intro)'
A swelling bass, deep voices, stern and commanding-but welcoming. Plucking synths-like sirens in an old sci-fi film, bending and mutating to a satisfying degree. The swelling bass once more-fading out to nothingness.
'In My System'
The familar swelling bass fading back in, now with a partner in crime-a deep, acidic, square synth. A voice arises-is it even human? An android? Lush and dreamy-but with a bite to it. Glitching and mutating, a new section is introduced. A happier tone than before. Dreamy pads, and plucky synths, surprisingly C418 esque. Now comes the dark tone once more, unpleasent, high-pitched sounds arise, but now-drifting away.
'Come Back Down'
A re-interpretation, of two classic 80's hits in one. The android voice returns, a jumpy synth bass-peppy, catchy, and dancefloor-worthy.
'Summer Love'
Tuning in, filtered and lo-fi, like a radio. Rising, a quick burst of momentum. Returned to a habitual state. Summer vibes, top down, speeding down the highway. Dreamy synths, lush pads, stopped. Losing momentum, tuning down.
'Infatuation'
A poppy synth progression, brassy, and retro. Acidic, staccato bass follows, and now the voice returns. It is now familar. Arps dancing about, I want you-I need you, the voice says. A breathy solo, then back to the voice. Ending in a glitchy, detuned, mess of percussive fun.
'Searching'
Remix of DJ Ten's The Inner Voice. A haze of dreamy voices, swelling basses, and delayed snares. A rush of excitement rushes throughout, and then back to the bass progression, catchy, quick, and staccato.
'1st Wave (Interlude)'
Spacey arps rise and dance about a bed of deep noise. Where am I? Am I in space? This is just a dream. The first of many.
'So Far Away'
Lazerhawk cover. Dreamy synths and guitar twinkle in the stars. Deep, bass arps and heavy drums dance about. Retro toy tom samples flicker between pulses. I see a battle, between spaceships. What are they fighting about? I wonder-about these things.
'Mechanical Love'
Cover of Com Truise's Hyper Lips. Brass arps dancing, thick drums, the occasional clap or two. A deep progressing square bass, mellow and excited at the same time. A trip into an alien world perhaps.
'Sega Genesis'
Cover of Grimes' Genesis. The familar bass progression, only now with a new voice, different than before. The android-esque voice replaces the once shrill and lush voice that once filled the void before it.
'Chun Li's Revenge (Interlude)'
Retro arps dancing, 8bit synths chirping-like birds, cyborg birds. Downsampled drums, like sound effects-explosions.
'Into Your Heart'
Remix of Miami, by Jasper Byrne. Sounding like M83, a darkness surrounds-it is night. Driving down the streets of miami, driving all night, driving right-into your heart.
'Something About You (Remix)'
More bitcrush goodness-only now, in a more downtempo style. Slow, progressing, head bobbing the whole way. Effected and delayed vocals add a layer of atmospheric bliss-like floating in space-only as your planet behind you is exploding-in slow motion.
'2nd Wave (Interlude)'
Dreamy, lush-but building tension. Once again I must ask-am I in space, floating? Or is it a dream? A slight eeriness, confusion maybe.
'Stay'
Dreamy synths, deep, progressing drums. Voices, asking you-stay. A slight darkness surrounds, retro tom samples here and there. A haze, an aura, an ambience.
'Enjoy The Silence'
Cover of the classic Depeche Mode track. An ambience is formed, dreamy, and dance-floor worthy with the deep pulsating drums, and stiff, staccato bass jabs. The once android sounding voice is now revealing a more human side, making me wonder-it must have been programmed well.
'What Is Real (Outro)'
Synth arps fill the void-like stars passing my gaze. Floating uncontrollably, in a deep sleep. But this fades, as momentum is gained. Thick, reverbed drums and a mean bass arp rise. You have awoken from your deep sleep. Still in a dream-like state, you ask-what is real?
Trevor Something presents the Trevor Something Does Not Exist album on his Bandcamp page here and this album comes highly recommended from Synthetix.FM as a departure from reality into realms where what is real and what isn't real becomes a blurred haze of synthual ambiguities.

Synthetix Weekend Update
Time again for another Weekend Update on Synthetix.FM! There's something new coming to Synthetix.FM, something I hope you enjoy. For the first time I'll be having a new contributor to the site, and it will be a new regular feature on a weekly basis. I've had numerous people ask to contribute over the years and I've never taken any on as basically the content would be the same as what I already offer but from a different author. I was very aware that any person I was ever going to get to contribute to Synthetix.FM would need to offer something new, something different to what I do and something that is still in keeping with the Synthetix.FM theme and aesthetic.
With these lofty criteria I really didn't think I'd get anybody else to create content on here, not that I didn't want people to contribute, but more that it had to be something that met these things specifically so that it was a complementary aspect to the Synthetix.FM experience. Luckily all the planets got into alignment recently and I'm very pleased to announce their first post will happen on here midweek, between my two usual reviews. I want to keep it a surprise until it happens, and I hope all you Synthetix.FM rockers out there find this new addition entertaining and enlightening. So tune in Wednesday to Synthetix.FM for all the hot new action!
Right now let's pull back the throttle and launch into synthual realms of azure brilliance and aural majesty with this week's AIRBORNE feature releases!
Mathusalem - Panorama A producer bridging many vintage and modern aspects in his music is Mathusalem and his latest EP presented by Future City Records is a four track affair entitled Panorama. The style of the music is arranged with many modern flavours and the sounds blend vintage 80s glows with contemporary colour but it is the melodies that draw a rather wonderful retro pastiche from these ingredients. This release is definitely right on the borderline of being relevant to Synthetix.FM but is definitely something worthy of your listening time. Some great ideas surface throughout the tracks that are fresh and rockin with 'Panorama' and the opening piece 'Alpha Centauri' being my favourites for creating hypnotically designed 80s inspired experiences.
Omega Danzer - Play The Future Another producer who's combining many old and new inspiration is Omega Danzer. His latest EP titled Play The Future is presented for your enjoyment by Computer Love Records and delivers thrilling mixes of 80s synth and Italo sounds in a French Touch ambiance that brings to mind a great deal of the original 80s revival producers from the late 2000s. The sounds are heavily beat-driven with a dancefloor energy powering the synthscape but Omega Danzer keeps the 80s rockin via soothing and electrifying melodies. Electro rock breakin' action is one of the EP's highlights on the title track but his OutRun themed 'Galaxia Danze' is also a high point.
Nitelight - Kepler-186F A brand new team of rockers out on the loose and ready to relive the 80s dream is the three piece act Nitelight from Italy who've just completed their debut EP Kepler-186F. The Nitelight experience is about creating atmospheres of synthual passages that blend soundtrack aspects with energetic synthwave hooks. The music itself is arranged with great care and maximises the beauty of the elements with the percussion ensuring a focus is retained and the rockin doesn't stop. Emotional canvases vary immensely, through the panic and drama of the title track and into the smooth undulations of 'Countach' then into the night time action thrills of 'Pleasure 2008'. Nitelight keep passions running high throughout this EP and it bodes very well for their future in classic 80s sounds.
Quick! Get onto this as quick as you can before Trevor Something makes it disappear! I've had very little luck posting his music of late as by the time I'm ready to post it he's pulled it down off soundcloud. With his new track available on iTunes here I'm assuming this one might be up for the duration, with any luck. The dreamy synth pop gold of Trevor Something continues to glow and smoulder throughout 'Summer Love' and his vocals are, once again, some of the most suave you're going to hear outside of a Roxy Music record.
Treading with fear in the dark woods, late at night is the latest work from Zombie Hyperdrive: 'Red Eyes'. The threat of danger looms through every stanza and the guitar tear shreds of flesh from bone with roaring solos of complete entrancement. 'Red Eyes' is certainly a track Goblin would be proud of and Zombie Hyperdrive should be too as this rocks from beginning to end.
Swapping out the terror for some amorous advances is Destroyah with his latest work 'Girl In A Varsity Jacket'. Although the sounds are geared towards the romance of the 80s this is a very interesting take on synth romance sounds and moves with a graceful and ethereal presence while the female vocal work provides a wonderful counter play to the smoothly implemented sax.
Paris76 has been continuing his journey into vintage sounds and experimenting with some new ideas and in 'Neo Noir (re-edit)' he's come up with something rockin indeed. The structures of this track, especially the percussion are off kilter and enhance the dreamy nature of the melodies. The result is very engaging and full of homage to vintage sounds.
Venturing further into avant garde territory is the latest creation from Jowie Schulner called 'Era Of Adventure'. Once again it is the non-traditional percussion that really skews the angles and presence of the melodies into exquisite new surrounds. The hypnotic arrangements are irresistible and breathtaking.
Brutal Pony Riders is rockin up some kick arse grooves in his latest work B.P.R FM. The chintz is turned up into gloriously raucous levels with cowbell magic riding at full gallop throughout. This hot track is currently available for FREE download via the player.
Hello Meteor's been rocking the 80s inspired synth magic for a while now but I do believe this is the first time I've covered his music on Synthetix.FM. His latest track is 'Justifying The Intrusion' and it's one kick arse piece of synth gold. Sounds are marauding and subtle, keeping the ambiance balanced on tenter hooks. This is the perfect blend of night moods and hidden emotions. Beautiful music.
Taking off from earthly nights into the eternal night of space is another deeply atmospheric work of synthual delights courtesy of Kid Quasar and his track 'Phase Night'. The airy nature of the melodies are hung together by a totally kick arse bassline that really ties all the elements together into a magical experience.
Time Trvlr is rockin some quality Italo this week with his latest work 'Ciab Bella-Italo'. The elements come together in wonderfully traditional fashion and the arrangements on here really would take off to all new levels with a vocal track from a classically styled Italo chanteuse. I wonder what Evelyn Barry or Lian Ross are up to these days? This track is currently available for FREE download.
We've not visited the jungles of danger and unknown mythical powers for quite some time on Synthetix.FM but Robot Outro is ready to give us a guided tour of forgotten cultures and mystical magic courtesy of his rockin new tune 'The Outsider Tribe'. The percussion is wonderfully implemented and each element alludes to even more intrigue amidst the sprawling tropical forests. This track is also available for FREE download currently.
The terror of the night returns with violence and brutality in Grochoski's sinister new track 'Wild Night'. After a horrific scene is set in the introduction the synths take over and carve out passages of menace with a couple of contemporary accents added that really give the track a surprising and unpredictable edge that I found hugely entertaining. You can pick up a copy of this track on Grochoski's Bandcamp page here at a name-your-own price point.
Mitch Murder's celebrating 10,000+ fans on his Facebook page with a wonderful new track for FREE download! 'Ocean Avenue' provides a much more airy and sparsely populated synthscape than we're usually accustomed to with Mitch Murder's work and in doing so allows for the sunny ambiance of the melodies to shine with a gloriously warm flow. Congratulations, Mitch rocker, and thanks for all the magical tunes!
Next up is another minimalist synthscape from Frank Dagger this time. 'Girls Best Friend' is going to be featured as the soundtrack to a short film by director Marcos Cidade. I'm unfamiliar with this director's work but I hope we get to see the full production as this rockin tune is certainly engineered for some intriguing visuals. This track is currently available for FREE download too.
Our final track for this week's Weekend Update is the aptly titled 'Until The Sun Goes Down' from Synthetix.FM favourite Tommy. The magic of this producer emanates deeply from within this song yet it contains a bright, happy vibe that is often a road less travelled for this producer who's more prone to travel the more introspectively deep musical paths. Tommy's music is always uplifting in its melodic structures and this is definitely the case with this gorgeous track, which is also currently available for FREE download.
Our video feature this week, once again, comes from 80s inspired synth scene official video maker par excellence Neros77 with his totally rockin mix of Garth Knight's epic 'Dance With Me' and visuals from everyone's favourite Hasselhoff extravaganza Knight Rider. Neros77 kills it once again!
That does us for another Weekend Update on Synthetix.FM. I hope you've found some hot new tunes to make your weekend the right shades of 80s neon. I'll be back during the week with more hot rockin tunes from the 80s inspired synth scene and don't forget the new weekly feature launching here midweek. 'Til then, stay 80s and keep on rockin.

Synthetix Weekend Update
Another week full of hot action in the 80s inspired synth scene has rolled around and I've got a bunch of kick arse new tunes to cover in this week's Weekend Update. A couple of things before we get to the tunes, there are currently two t-shirt competitions going on that are big opportunities for those with a penchant for 80s design to partake in.
Drive Radio are running their competition from the 19th of February until the 2nd of March so you still have a few weeks to get your designs rockin. The full details and specifications are available on their page here.
The second competition is hosted by Lazerhawk himself. He's hunting high and low for a kick arse t-shirt design via his Facebook page. The terms and conditions are all listed on Lazerhawk's Facebook page here and this is again a great opportunity to get your artwork out to a larger audience, via one of the true pioneers of the of 80s inspired synth scene.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how both of these competitions develops as the plans for the official Synthetix.FM t-shirt are happening concurrently also.
Let's get down to business now with the latest rockin tunes from the scene in the new Weekend Update on Synthetix.FM!
An artist that's been on the Synthetix.FM radar over the last few months has been Trevor Something. His music has always been just on the verge of something special and with 'Something About You' I believe he's made some real magic happen. Quality melodies and the vocals work exceptionally well. His laid back, cool vocal style is well suited to the 80s music genres and I think this track is a pivotal one in his development.
I first thought the new Waveshaper track was a direct homage to the Mitch Murder synthscapes but then it's narrative deviates into something else that is totally rockin and full of great ideas. 'Surveillance' is rich in it's melodic exploration and keeps rockin hard from beginning to end.
Paris76 is back with a killer new piece titled 'Mind Games'. The swirling, ethereal presence of this experience is entrancing and leads to some great dramatic passages. The dreamlike nature of the airy melodies adds an extra layer of beauty to the ambience while the energetic drum fills pulse with a life force all their own.
A new rocker on the 80s inspired synth scene is Kid Quasar. His latest track 'We Are The Future' bounces along with an energetic elegance and combines some great 70s and 80s influences. Modern elements also come into play through the back section as the ideas evolve. Definitely looking forward to hearing more music from Kid Quasar in the future.
A dreamy new track from scene legend Palm Highway Chase next. '2014//high/wave/haze' takes the PHC style into the swirling vortex of synthospheric illusions, rising and falling with cushioned volition that drifts in and out of consciousness. Definitely one of this producers more experimental and experiential pieces and currently available for FREE download.
Taking a trip back to a much more pop-centric reality is the new Synth Pop act Glass Apple Bonzai and his new single 'The Freeze'. Synthscapes are a wonderful homage to early 80s styles and the melodies and vocals are orchestrated to perfection. 'The Freeze' is backed by the also rock hard 'I Can't Stop Running' both of which are are available at a name-your-own-price point via the link in the player.
There's absolutely no stopping Epoch with with his totally kick arse new track 'Zeta'. This driving piece of high energy OutRun is rockin to the max with dangerous curves, high speed straight aways and pedal to the metal drama. Pick up this k-rad rocker for FREE via the link in the player.
The next tune from Adrien Aubrun & Thomas Trichet has landed as their retro 80s odyssey continues. This track is a direct sequel the astounding F40 1987 track and takes the emotive high energy melodies from the first chapter and dapples them in a sun drenched sunset palette of golden tones. The result is much more laid back and contemplative, working as a future memory to F40 1987's original experience.
Shklovsky is another new producer to Synthetix.FM and his new track 'Never Hurt' is something I found very engaging. The music is a wavering and delicate pastiche of sounds that are at breaking point much of the time, threatening to distort into oblivion. The piece evolves in a very ethereal manner, and the haunting vocals complement the atmosphere splendidly. You can buy this track through his Bandcamp page here also.
Navigateur has been a Synthetix.FM favourite for a long time now and his latest track provides much excitement indeed. Taking the Navigateur synthscapes into some decidedly Vapourwave dimensions has given 'Elevator Music' a wonderful new spin on his already individualised synthscapes. Grab a copy of this track for FREE while you can via the link in the player.
This is definitely a red-letter day for me on Synthetix.FM as I finally get the chance to share one of my favourite vintage synth composer's new music! Krzysztof Duda has been making exceptionally beautiful synth music since the early 80s and much of the library music compositions he's done for Polish TV and radio are my absolute personal favourites. If you're ever in the Synthetix.FM Plug.DJ room while I'm in there you'll never be too far away from one of my favourite Krzysztof Duda synth pop gems from the 80s either. Duda's latest piece, 'Out To Out' is a return to classic 80s sounds for this artist and conjures up some incredible uplifting melodic passages arranged with craftsmanship of the highest calibre. Absolutely k-rad to the max and also available for FREE download currently.
Rockin the 80s styles for the first time in their musical journey is Germany's Blokkmonsta with his atmospheric new track 'Into The Unknown'. This hip-hop artist has ventured into this new territory very nicely indeed with melodies allowed to ebb and flow with much presence and exploring these possibilities with much passion. This is HUGE departure from his previous music but is something I hope he continues producing.
Super Vox is back weaving Italo Disco Synth gold with Snob Disco Project this time around with the totally killer 'Never Let You Go'. Everything about this track is 80s Italo perfection from the dramatic romantic melodies to the spectacular vocal track. Definitely one of my favourite Super Vox experiences to date.
Fantastisizer has been a Synthetix.FM favourite for while now and we finally have the chance to pick up this great producer's recent work in the just released Last Call EP. Featuring a slew of tracks I've covered in previous Weekend Updates you can now add these gems to your music library and rock them good and proper. The EP is available on Fantastisizer's Bandcamp page here at a name-your-own-price point, so dig deep and give this rockin producer some well earned appreciation.
With the Kung Fury Kickstarter only finishing hours ago, bringing in a spectacular $630,019 it's the perfect time to celebrate with a marvellous new Mitch Murder track, which I may be correctly or incorrectly assuming is from the soundtrack: 'Enter The Fury'. Opting for a more low-fi atmosphere (on the Mitch Murder scale, at least) this pulsating action anthem is full of drama, power and the fight for good over evil. Congratulations to Laser Unicorns for achieving their Kickstarter goals and I'll be sure be covering further developments in the Kung Fury project on Synthetix.FM.
That does us for another Weekend Update on Synthetix.FM, it's been a wild ride of new producers and some classic favourites and I hope you've enjoyed these rockin tunes as much as I have.
I'll be back during the week with more k-rad action from the 80s inspired synth scene, 'til then stay 80s and keep on rockin.

Synthetix Weekend Update
Aaand we're back!! Rockin the 80s with a modern flavour, Synthetix.FM is back on deck and ready to take off to the raddest dimensions with the magical sounds from the most tubular superstars in the galaxy!
First up is a hot new rocker on the scene going by the name of Trevorsomething. His latest song 'All Night' is a supremely moody homage to darker side of synth pop sounds. The vocal track is haunting with a story of substance abuse woven into a cautionary tale with a downward spiral being the only path to travel. Shades of Visage resonate throughout the music and really make for an incredibly kick arse ambience. Trevorsomething is someone I'll definitely be following ardently in the future.
Combining forces into a supernova of synth scintillations are STARFORCE and Tommy with their new epic, 'Interstellar'. The melodic beauty of both of these talented composers is allowed to bloom in to visions of vibrant colours and stunning synthscapes. The purity of this track is undeniable, it's essence is something unquestionable wondrous. Currently available for FREE download through the player.
More kick arse new music from Phaserland next. This producer's been releasing music for the last year on soundcloud but in recent months has found the love for 80s sounds and his new track rocks the retro sounds with much panache. 'Night Talk' is a slow burn that creates a salaciously steamy atmosphere full of hot sounds and tempting melodies. This piece of sultry synth erotica is best served with ice, on a warm night with the volume set to the most intimate of levels.
RF Extreme continues to hone his musical skills in each successive outing and for his latest track he's returned to luxuriant tones of Synth Romance in 'The Eyes Of Fantasy'. The melodic structure are light and hopeful with an air of longing about them. The driving rhythm section gives the experience a really purposeful direction, allowing for each passage to expand further on the story.
It's been a while since we had some honest to goodness Transformers inspired tracks on Synthetix.FM and it pleases me greatly to have Lazerpunk!'s 'Death Of A Hero' to right this injustice. Lazerpunk! has created an exceptionally atmospheric adventure that rocks on in a most satisfying manner with set pieces in all the right places while retaining a reverence throughout the leading melodic refrain.
Russia's Pulse 80 has been rockin the classic 80s sounds for quite a while now, but I've only become aware of his work recently. The sounds he creates are totally rockin the authentic 80s vibes and with his new track, 'Old-Skoolin' he's managed to recreate some kick arse electro funk breakin' beats. From the excessive hand claps to the hooky bassline this is pure killer. Be sure to grab a copy of his FREE Best of 2013 EP here for more beautifully authentic 80s inspired synth sounds.
One thing I really love about Mitch Murder's music is that you only need to hear about three or four seconds of it to know it's him. His individualised sounds are instantly recognisable, which is definitely a rarity in the scene and is one of the reasons he's so respected and loved. With his latest piece we find Mitch Murder again creating synth magic strung from golden tones and magical melodies. 'Killer Angels' features a modicum of drama set amidst a flurry of exciting passages. The master does it yet it again.
I was all set to post Dr Pecco's awesome Denim Python and then the Doctor released something extraordinary yesterday that I just had to cover. 'October' featuring Jonah on vocals is a spectacular R&B groove that mixes old and new elements with stunning results. The vocal tracks is vastly impressive whilst the music keeps as soulful edge but also manages to get a bit dirty too. Dr Pecco just keeps on rockin.
Highway Superstar is back with an ambient atmospheric epic entitled 'The Road To Alpha Centauri'. The music is allowed to flow of it's own innate volition with glacially epic presence while the instrumentations are kept in a bright formations of celestial power with intimate details audible throughout the stars. Moving and invigorating throughout.
I previously reviewed Sam Haggblad's 'Never Say Never' in it's three track form on Synthetix.FM , and that release has now evolved into an eight track affair that provides even more kick arse Italo gold from this modern day master of the genre. The previously released three tracks are joined by three more originals and a cover of Queen's 'Back Chat'. The combined talents of Haggblad and singer Johanna Liljegren make for the the most authentically rockin Italo experience this side of 1986 with arrangements, instrumentations and production engineered for complete 80s accuracy.
This is a must-have release for all fans of 80s inspired synth that endeavours to genuinely recreate the classic sounds with a pure heart and total respect for the retro sounds. In this longer format Never Say Never is an explosive flash of why Italo sounds are so engagingly 80s from beginning to end.
Droid Bishop is back for the attack with his new experience in sci-fi synth entitled 'The Outlander'. I really enjoyed Droid Bishop's Electric Love EP and this new track continues his adventures into the future with powerful star flight into unknown regions of the cosmos. The drama never threatens to become over wrought with the melodies becoming more jubilant and uplifting as the story evolves.
Continuing through a similar channel in space-time but in another dimension is the hot new track from Dallas Campbell. 'Outrunners Theme' is the theme to the Outrunners online comic, available for your perusal here and is the second track I'm aware of being used in this production from the 80s inspired synth scene (NFD Music's 'Infiltration' also being part of the experience). Dallas Campbell has fabricated an anthemic space synth piece that is most definitely 80s in design and make up but also includes some more 70s inspired progressions. He certainly makes both worlds work exceedingly well together in this dramatic tale of love, hate and adventure.
Another new artist to Synthetix.FM is Falconhoof. This British producer's sounds are certainly kicking much arse and his new track 'Falconh Attitude' is set to bursting point with 80s love. The music feels like a mixture of Beverly Hills Cop era Faltermeyer combined with a healthy dose of Synth Romance, creating a heady experience in good times and great rock'n'roll. Falconhoof definitely has the love and the skills, I'll be looking forward to hearing more from him in the future.
Speaking of good times and great rock'n'roll the new Plaisance track is full of both. This high energy homage to the Dolphins greatest quarterback is full of intense synth action and lovingly crafted with that Plaisance magic we absolutely love on Synthetix.FM. This track is available at a 'name your own price' point through Bandcamp, so get on it and rock it!
LA Dreams keeps on bringing in new elements and inspirations into his vast repertoire of 80s soundscapes and his most exciting of late is 'Battle Graffiti Kids'. The electro breakin' sounds are complemented by layers of percussive details and held together by a melody that is 1000% pure LA Dreams. Totally rockin.
Introduced to me by the always radical Noah 'BenniMushu' Kaufman is another new act to Synthetix.FM, the glorious Flamingo Drive. Their track 'Flamingo Drive Theme' as absolutely enrapturing in it's glorious beauty. The synthscape is full of magical passages and lovingly crafted details and it's emotional investment is inspiringly deep. This is the world famous Satin Jackets' pure 80s side project and I for one can't wait for more music from them.
Noir Deco's sounds are coming thick and fast in 2013 as his return to the scene was heralded initially by a short YouTube teaser has now escalated into a juggernaut of high calibre synth firepower. His new track, 'Rasalom' inspires with it's gigantic atmosphere and epic narrative that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The soundtrack flavoured pieces from Noir Deco have always been one of his strong points, on 'Rasalom' this theory is bolstered even further.
Clusterbuster from Norway is another new rocker on scene with a love for 80s sounds and penchant for more dramatic experiences. 'Welcome To Camp Crystal Lake' is Clusterbuster's homage to Friday The 13th and whilst it does contain darker elements it's more OutRun oriented than pure dark synth. The pace is as exciting as melodies and are arranged to keep excitement levels redlining in the danger zone.
A new act who's music really effected me is Shklovsky & Pale Blue Dot featuring Line with their song 'Sunset Eyes'. The 80s love courses through this ambient synth pop exposition and takes on ingenious new forms with the ghostly vocal track. The arrangements are avant garde in their construction which adds even more mystery to the haunting soundscape.
The final piece this this week's Weekend Update is a totally rockin new video by Dan Fisk, Heath Saunders and Dani Mueller. This is their submission of the ABC's of Death for the letter M. 'M Is For Mothers Against Drunk Driving' features two classic tracks from Carpenter Brut and turns a night of alcohol excess into a night of excessive violence. Great work from these guys!!

Before we take off to adventure I've got some special plans for Halloween on Synthetix.FM. Starting today I'm taking submissions for the inaugural Synthetix.FM Rhythm Vivisection Halloween Ultra Mix! For the next two weeks, with the cut-off date being the 27th of October, I'll be looking forward to hearing your most horrifying synth creations and from this pool of bloody remnants, resurrecting them into a huge mix of nightmares and demons to provide you with the ultimate soundtrack for your Halloween festivities! The music should be 80s inspired synth of any denomination but of course the darker side is what I'm needing. Giallo Disco, Dark Synth, Slash Electro and even more ambient pieces are the order of the day, but being creative and adding your own flavour to the experience is what it's all about.
This is not a contest, nor is there a guarantee your track will make the cut but I'll certainly endeavour to include as many chapters of darkness as possible. The tracks submitted don't have to be new or exclusive but they must be your own work, that said, covers are also fine. To submit your track simply use the Contact Form on the left hand column of this page.
The Synthetix.FM Rhythm Vivisection Halloween Ultra Mix will go live on the 30th of October with a special edition of Synthetix.FM. The mix will be downloadable so that you can rock it all night long during your Halloween festivities. I'm looking forward to this project, as I hope you are also, and I hope we can make this one hell of a kick arse Halloween soundtrack!!
I'll be sure to post an update about this project in the next weekend. Now, lets get rockin with the new Super Jumbo Sized Weekend Update on Synthetix.FM!
