FlashBoy Tells Us Love Stories
Hot on the six inch patent leather red heels of his track Eclipse comes FlashBoy's excellent new two track EP called Love Stories. This producer has always had an uncanny knack of perfectly balancing classic and modern sounds in a similar manner to Tommy or MiamiNights1984. The soul of the vintage sounds is a fickle mistress to work properly with modern attenuations, it's a tightrope act to keep the balance. Too far one way and the 80s magic gets lost, and too far the other way and vintage sounds become twee and out of place.
Few producers get this right consistently and FlashBoy is definitely one of them. This two track release is a love stricken testament to this with a good heaping helping of synth romance in for good measure. Both tracks have their own personality, but they have a consistent thematic that rings true throughout.
Side A contains Princess of the Night. FlashBoy's talent for working this hooky main melody is instantly engaging and the passion builds with each new layer of synth wonder. The simplicity of this piece is a great part of it's magic, everything counts and everything totally works. The main reprise is positively joyful and the bright orchestractions enhance the mood even further. By the midpoint the track takes it's last evolutionary step, breaking free of it's disco chrysalis in a winged explosion of colourful sounds and deep emotions, majestically rising into the sky with the sunlight glinting of every facet of aural loveliness.
The aptly titled Romance takes up on Side B. This set piece is more dramatic in delivery, keeping a labouring pace that weaves a vortex of swelling emotion. The music lures the listener hypnotically into a swaying colourwave of swirling colours and lights. FlashBoy allows this piece to roll along unfettered by complications, and allows the music to take it's own course across the sea of love. The rudderless vessel meanders beautifully over the cresting waves of emotion, taking us on a voyage that is haunting and totally engrossing until it gently fades out into the magenta horizon.
Both these tracks are currently available for free download on FlashBoy's soundcloud in the player above. I highly encourage all readers of Synthetix to add these gems to their music collections and give FlashBoy some love of your own on his soundcloud and his Facebook page here while you're at it.

Synthetix Weekend Update
It's time for another monster Weekend Update on Synthetix, so lets get rockin' with zero delay!
First up is a sneak peek album teaser from the enigmatic Betamaxx. This two minute snippet of absolutely stunning synth romance bodes very well for his next release. Such beautifully constructed melodies and sounds make this something I'm champing at the bit for.
Photosynthesi got chilled and stirred with his new track Winter Nights. Photosynthesi is yet to release a piece of music I don't love, Winter Nights continues this trend with sheer, uplifiting melodies perched astride perfectly measured percussion.
Continuing down the steamy side of synth soundscapes is the new gem from Prof. Zonic Zynth. His new track Turning Point is highly atmospheric, forgoing his usual funk odysseys in favour of a midnight rendezvous where danger and lust walk hand in hand beneath a starlight sky.
Malbu B's upcoming releases have been teased with a fourway preview. The moods are introspective and coloured with autumnal shades but still enriched by much of the Malibu B magic we know and love. I'm greatly looking forward to experiencing each of this tracks in their fullest capacity.
Keeping that introspective and comtemplative mood rockin on we got a killer new track from FlashBoy this week in Eclipse. This is another rousing work that builds into soaring magnificence. It's been a quite time for FlashBoy, musically, of late, I'm hoping this is a triumphant return with more FlashBoy experiences in the pipeline.
Brand new music from Arcade High next! City Lights brings a sparkling and energetic experience with a dash of the classic Arcade High 80s video game soundtrack personality for that zesty taste sensation we all love. This is available for FREE download so get on it right now!
I have so many favourite tracks by LA Dreams I've begun to lose count, but his new experience entitled Highschool DreamGirl is instantly in my Top 5. This positively glowing work of exemplary synth romance is masterfully constructed and purely uplifting to experience. Truly amazing.
Adding a dash of disco to the proceedings this week is a new track from Box Of Wolves called Swim. Lots of swelling 80s sounds accompany a dramatic beat while melodies cascade through through a sun drenched seascape. This is also available for FREE download to fully enhance your weekend experience.
The final installment of rockin 80s synth action comes to us in the form a totally killer new preview video for Vincenzo Salvia's Nostalgia EP. Due out on Decemeber 4th this promises more emotive and enlightening experiences in quality synth music from one of Synthetix favourite new producers.
That does us for another week on Synthetix, I hope you've enjoyed all the wonderful music on here this week as much as I have and I look forward to even more rockin new experiences next week!

Synthetix Weekend Update
It's been a massive week in the 80s synth scene and we've got a bumper Weekend Update to cover the brightest stars that shined over the past seven days.
Let's open things up with a massive new track from DigitalNativeDance. Rise Up is an anthemic powerhouse of pure 80s synth gold. This artist is maintaining a very high standard with each successive release and Rise Up elevates his sounds even further.
On the more experiemental Dreamwave tip the most bitchenly named Puffernutter released Dream World. A swirling and reverberating ride through new dimensions of synthesized delirium. Puffernutter's really nailing the sounds and moods here, brilliant work.
One of my favourite new artists Kenji Run published a demo of his newest work entitled There's Rain Outside. I adore the pace of this track, it gallops along and creates an ambience of total excitement. Once it's been completed I can see this being one of his strongest songs thus far.
Newcomer Delenda Est has only two tracks up on his soundcloud, but this piece entitled June 3rd is a beautiful example of total 80s synth love. I'm hoping this producer keeps at it as he's definitely got the feel and for what this music is all about.
FlashBoy (formerly Horror Machine) has released a preview of his latest work Summertime. This preview promises a beautiful example of classic 80s/French Touch that he does so very well. I'm imagining this is going to be an epic summer time anthem by the time it's done and could well prove to be FlashBoy's breakout track.
Garth Knight keeps raising the bar higher and higher with each new release and Vigilante Part 1 finds him dabbling in a more soundtrack style atmosphere. He's developing his own style and allowing his pieces to really evolve. A really superb example of creating drama towards the back end too, magical!!
Russia's Bluezz Vylez has been experimenting with a 80s synthwave sounds for a while, but his latest piece entitled Ocean Console really makes for an exceptionally radical experience. I love the timing of this track and the layers of synths compliment eachother perfectly.
Last, but most certainly not least, we have another collaborative composition from Perturbator, this time with Starforce and what these talents have combined to create is absoloutely gorgeous. Retrofuture's is an anthemic soundtrack of dimension defying proportions. This must be listened to numerous times to pick up all the magic weaved throughout it's near six and a half minutes. So delicate in delivery, but powerful in atmosphere and mood. A true work of genius from both producers.
I hope you've enjoyed this week's Weekend Update on Synthetix and I look forward to sharing more discoveries in the world of the 80s inspired synth scene next week.

Synthetix Weekend Update
It's time for another Weekend Update on Synthetix! Lets get rockin and down to business!
First up is some great new music from Quixotic. Interstellar is a track off their new EP and is brilliant work of hi energy, uplifting Italo Disco. A real understanding of what makes Italo rock gives this track so much light and scope, drenched in a glittering lustre. Be sure to get the whole EP for free through the links off soundcloud.
Horror Machine has been having recent dalliances with other styles, doing more French House themed material, but his latest release is true 80s synth love. Deemed "Driving Electro" by the man himself this is certainly very powerful music with compression perfection. Corvette is also up for free download, so get it while you can!
Lets slow the pace down for our next adventure. Although it's not brand new this week, Steve Moore's Volatile Memory is something I've been enjoying a great deal this week. The piece works at a perfectly languid pace that layers superbly. Steve Moore is a modern day master of this ethereal style and all his work provides luxurious synth-scapes of verdant splendour.
The brilliantly named Puffernutter has been brought to my attention this week and his latest work entitle Night Drive is one hell of a ride. The choice of sounds and production is totally immersive bringing to mind the majesty of Laserdisc Visions and Klockhaus but with his own personalised angle. Super track this one.
In preparation of his upcoming EP I thought I'd give Lolski some love in this weekend's post. Metropolis takes us to world of laser guided synth rockets of explosive force, a perfectly composed track that is rife with totally killer leads. I'm greatly looking forward to his next release and will be sure to give it ardent coverage on Synthetix.
The aptly title The Final Chase is our last hit on this weekend's update by none other than Flash Arnold. A deep and energetic ride into the night with a million horsepower beneath us. Once again the guitars are the stars in this epic composition from one of my absolute favourites in the scene.
That does us for another week on Synthetix, keep on rockin hard and I hope to see you again during next week's adventures into the new world of modern 80s synth music.

Synthetix Weekend Update
As Easter washes it's chocolaty goodness over all of us lets up rock it to some of the musical highlights released this past week.
Let's begin with a truly atmospheric and cinematic piece from famed synth produced Pyramid. A-Void Me is a slowly evolving and expanding galaxy of sound, the sparseness of the spatial echoes and almost organic melodies are a joy to behold.
Ukraine's Andy Fink is getting some seriously kick arse music in his repertoire and his latest teaser for his new EP is a wild 80s style synthphony of vibrant sounds. This EP is going to be something special indeed.
Synthetix favourite Horror Machine put out the beautifully sinister Desire this week. A darkdisco synth piece that is a great example of making a melody work throughout the whole song and thus make every other sound introduced make all the difference without sacrificing the mood. Wonderful.
Nickee B's been at it again with another instant synth classic. This man's talents in creating perfect 80s style music know no bounds. Testarossa is yet another brilliantly written and produced slice of synth laden goodness. A perfect example, yet again from Nickee B, of what this music is all about.
Another one of my favourite artists; Flash Arnold, has created another work of supreme majesty in his latest outing City Limits. The pitch bending accents on the melodies are truly inspiring and the guitars add an extra layer of totally kick arse sound to the proceedings. Flash Arnold once again gets everything perfect.
I'd like to preface this last part of this week's Weekend Update by stating I really love Futurecop!. These guys were instrumental in my discovering of new 80s style music and their early EP's are still some of my most listened to and favourite music of the last 5 years or so. However, their seminal piece Starworshipper was reworked on the 2010 release It's Forever, Kids with two vocal tracks that I personally didn't enjoy in any way at all. Futurecop! have now released Starworshipper as a single along with it having their first music video. The real highlight is that two of my favourite 80s synth scene producers Mitch Murder and Jowie Schulner have had their remixes included as well as ones by Lenno and Out There.
The magic spun by both Mitch and Jowie on their remixes is definitely worth revisting Starworshipper once again as they definitely provide some more dimension to the new song's sound.
That does it for another Weekend Update, make sure you tune in to Synthetix next week for coverage of the exciting new Alpha Boy album, the brilliant new EP from 7he Myriads EP and a bunch of other hot rockin action!
