Synthetix Weekend Update

Time for another rockin Weekend Update on Synthetix.FM! This week has a witnessed the beginning of the FIFA World Cup and in celebration Werkstatt Recordings has garnered a roster of quality synth talent to release a great new World Cup themed compilation titled Soccer Wave: The Road To Glory.

Not since New Order's World in Motion have synths and football been so tuned as one as the likes of Plaisance, Fixions, Foreign Blade, Shio-Z, Nitelight and many more hot rockin synth producers take to the pitch and quest for victory. You can pick up a copy of this great release on Werkstatt Recording's Bandcamp page here, so it can be your complete soundtrack to this epic sporting event.

Now get ready to take off to adventure with this week's AIRBORNE feature releases!

Sferro & Tommy - Matters Of The Heart Joining forces and enlisting even more killer talent we find Sferro & Tommy combining their magical synth magic in this great little EP. The opening title track is a sumptuous synth pop vista of luxurious 80s textures and emotions with a sultry vocal courtesy of Yota. 'Rapture' brings the dreamy melodies of Tommy into focus with arrangements given a glossy layer of Sferro synth magic. These two totally rockin tracks are accompanied by remixes of each from Cassette Club and Rex Ronan to finish off an already stellar experience in 80s inspired synth beauty.

Nemix - Electromechanical Nemix has released his debut EP which contains five tracks of high energy synth rockin that crosses genres and decades with very interesting results. Much of his melodies come across as heavily 80s influenced whilst the arrangements are engineered to maximise drama where necessary and then lull back into emotive pastures. 'Human V20' provides a delicately pieced together work of Synth Romance while still keeping a very modern/futuristic technological vibe, which is very intriguing. Stand out tracks also include the totally rockin 'City 2084' and 'Forbidden
Labs' which sounds like it should be on a Castlevania soundtrack.

Manolis - At My/Her Place Manolis is back with a superb new two track release that is a wonderfully explored concept in Synth Romance intimacy. At My/Her Place is a two track affair exploring synthual relationships in different environments between two people. The differences in being with the same person in differing spaces is beautifully illustrated via Manolis's incredible musical talent. Subtlety and understatement allow for wonderfully tender moments through both beautifully constructed tracks.  A stunning release and a shining example of a simple concept given immense depth.

---------------------------------------------------

Kicking off this week's Weekend Update tracks is Cobra Copter who's rockin some serious action in his latest track 'Ultimate Ninja'. The stealthily understated  opening chapters lead into full silent assassin overkill with great progressions and a lead refrain that is full of synth ninja magic. I'm sure Godfrey Ho would be proud to have this piece on a soundtrack to any of his superb ninja cinema masterpieces.

I'm becoming more and more impressed by the work of Alter Sun of late. His latest track really rocks some quality 80s vibes and with equal portions of Paul Hardcastle and Harold Faltermeyer combining into a feel good holiday vibe full of bright colours and warm sunshine.

Coming in right on track for the my next feature mixtape for International Boombox Day (more on this next week) is the great new electro rockin piece from Pulse 80 titled 'Sweet Groove'. Huge percussion highlights right on point 80s melodies in a jam that's sure to make your woofers wallop and your tweeters twitch. Currently available for FREE download via the link in the player.

A new rocker for Synthetix.FM now with Tetrahominoid and his totally kick arse track 'Convoy'. The electro rockin is turned up to maximum in this track with a chorus that is catchy far beyond the legal limits. Kick arse work and I hope to cover more Tetrahominoid tracks on here in the future.

It's great to have Dream Fiend rockin a kick arse new original tune with 'Lockdown' this week. The melodic journey this tracks takes the listener on is stunningly detailed and full of lush 80s sounds and produced with a sparkling coat of neon gloss.

There is definitely ardor in the air this week as yet another stunning Synth Romance track this time from Mooginizer and his wonderfully constructed piece 'Take Her Home'. The music moves through some intriguing chapters as Mooginizer really makes the percussion work in extraordinary ways to highlight the magic of the lead melody. Currently available for FREE download, get on it ASAP.

Another piece of music that is stunningly assembled is the new track from The Northern Lights going by the name of 'Indigos'. The presence created is immense and full of emotional nuance. There is a tactile mix of power and delicacy that is breathtaking. A wonderfully involving piece of music.

Steve Moore is a legend of 80s inspired synth music and it's fantastic that his stature has been recognised by Capcom as he's contributed kick arse music for the just released Dead Rising 3 DLC pack, extravagantly titled Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX + Alpha which brings a tonne of revered Capcom character designs into the Dead Rising universe. This track is currently available for FREE download, also.

RF Extreme's brand of emotive synthual pleasures is one I'm always excited to partake in another slice of and with 'Path Unknown' those sweetly delicious flavours are once again baked to perfection and iced with dreamy neon colours. The journey is deep and enriching and swells with great beauty.

Although it's policy on Synthetix.FM that i don't cover preview/demo tracks (I'd much prefer to wait until they are fully completed to give them proper exposure) I couldn't resist including the latest track by one my of favourite new producers of 2014, the ever impressive Sebastian Gampl with 'Chicago'. Though listed as a 'teaser' I'm not sure how else this wonderful piece of music will evolve as it is incredibly impressive as it stands. The best news is that Sebastian Gampl will be a releasing an album before the year's end so I figure this track (and his also rockin 'Freedom Fighter' track) might be the last time we get to hear from him for a while.

Robert Parker's really got the creative juices flowing this week with another great electro breakin' synth odyssey for your delectation. 'Spin' is full of nods to classic breakdance music while glowing with that beautiful Robert Parker magic. This is also available currently for FREE download too.

Fantastisizer is back with a hot new track titled 'Mirror Of You'. Haunting melodies providing an hypnotic and spacious synthscape that creates a hazy, dreamlike vision. The focus of the melody remains unchanged throughout but it's the atmospheres that are adapted and eventually brought to stunningly climactic final chapter that make the experience magical.

Myrone continues to redefine my love for 80s inspired synth music as he once again rocks harder than melonfarmer in his latest guitar and synth extravaganza: 'Heating Up'. This explosive, high octane thrill ride is packed with shredding, wailing, ripping and rockin all night long. Available for FREE download you NEED this piece of music in your life as loud and as often as possible. Be sure to check out Myrone's collaborative work with Max LeRoy, 'That's It Man' also released this week as a FREE track.

A live action fan project to make an accurate live-action version of AKIRA has secured the ever rockin Le Matos to make the soundtrack as rad as possible. 'Kiyoko' is a track to be featured in this project (which you can get sneak peak of here) and is a quality blend of classic 80s sounds and modern arrangements done in that classic Le Matos style. It's definitely the perfect audio accompaniment for the visuals, that's for sure. I'm certainly looking forward to how this project evolves as, like many of you reading this, I'm a huge fan of the original AKIRA animation.

This weeks feature video is for the long awaited new record from Mitch Murder. Synthetix.FM is officially on the hype train for this release as full length Mitch Murder experiences are always created with the highest calibre weaponry available and polished to a mirror finish. We've been promised physical copies of this album courtesy of Mad Decent including a vinyl release, which will definitely be making one of my long-term 80s inspired synth dreams come true. The album is due out the end of July, so expect more news and full coverage of the release as it gets closer, for now this beautifully animated album trailer for Interceptor will have to suffice.

That does us for another Weekend Update on Synthetix.FM. I'll be back during the week along with Kasia for more musical explorations in the world of 80s inspired synth music.

'Til then, stay 80s and keep on rockin.

Synthetix Weekend Update

The festive season is getting into full swing and the hot tunes just keep on rockin. No time for dillydallying this week, this Weekend Update is ready to explode with a monstrous amount of quality 80s flavoured synthsperiences rockin from a myriad of virtual locations around the galaxy directly into your hearts and minds.

First up on the starting grid is the irrepressible Danger Mode and his new smash hit 'Class Act'. Exploring some very refined Synth Romance sounds this is beautifully arranged track that channels Steve Winwood directly. Get rockin on this now as it's available for FREE download currently.

Shyguys are back from a six month hiatus with a totally rad new track that is full of 80s love and contains a truly beautiful uplifting aesthetic. The lead melody positively dances around the synthscape while the percussion is just as vibrant and energetic. Available for FREE download currently!

One thing I truly appreciate about modern producers is when they are inspired by 80s themes that are a tad less obvious than the usual standards. On Action Jackson's new track we are taken deep in the heart of Russia with 'Girl From USSR'. The world behind the Iron Curtain in the 80s was one of much speculation and fascination, especially from the West's point of view. Action Jackson captures these Eastern European elements succinctly and delivers them perfectly throughout this great piece. Make sure you check LA Nights, another track he shared this week, even in demo form it totally rocks.

More intimately tender Synth Romance, this time from MoweLan. 'Moonrays' is a majestically performed work of emotionally enriching beauty. The tempo and narrative are lithe and arched for maximum sensuality while the guitars provide sultry passages of electrifying excitement. Available for FREE download, make sure this makes all your 'late night' playlists.

Lueur Verte's triumphant return to the scene has been witnessed by his newly shared preview for the Crystallica EP,  which is due out December 1st. Drama, action, love and adventure are all teased throughout the five snippets available. It is not long to wait for the full release and I'll be sure to give this the full Synthetix.FM treatment upon it's release.

It's no secret to anyone that I rather enjoy making up names and terms regularly on Synthetix.FM and after hearing D/A/D's penchant for this kind of thing in his interview on Beyond Synth this week I've become even more inspired to do so. Sunglasses Kid's new track feels like the perfect place to introduce a new sub genre that I'm going to call After School Special Synth. It's a little bit Library and a little bit funky and it sure is rockin from beginning to end. You can purchase your own copy of 'The Last Dance' via the link in the player. Oh, and I love you too, Sunglasses Kid!

Every time I hear a new Evanton track I seem to think to myself 'this is definitely the best Evanton track' and then they release a new piece, and the same thought comes to mind. Such is the progression these rockers have made throughout 2013 and with 'Don't Stop' they've done it again. Definitely my favourite Evanton experience thus far with the perfect blend of Electro Breakin' and Italo Disco all packaged with a gleamingly slick production. You can pick up a copy of this which includes the U.S Remix and Radio Version through the link in the player.

Do you like to rock? Do you want to rock? If the answer to both of these questions is yes, then you'll certainly want to get the volume cranked up well past safe levels and rock the hell of the absolutely kick arse new track from Jon Of The Shred entitled '2029 A.D.'. This guitar drenched composition of dramatic synths and awe inspiring power is something to behold. I think this is one of Jon's first experiments in rock synth experiences, but I certainly hope is not his last as '2029 A.D.' is k-rad to the max.

How can you possibly follow something with such extreme rocking? With extreme funking, thats how!
Garth Knight is back to full form funk flights of fantasy with his brand new track 'Dance With Me'. I love how stripped back this piece feels, theres a real 'live' element to the synthscape that is totally engaging. It's great to see such strong return from Mr Knight, and you can purchase your own copy of 'Dance With Me' through the link in the player.

Niky Nine has proven to be one of the most exciting new producers coming out of the back end of 2013 and his new release 'Road' adds even more weight to this. The drama is kept in check with an absolutely stunning lead synth melody that flows like a neon liquid of saturating 80s wonder. The story is told splendidly well with each passage and refrain ushering in new levels of excitement. This superb experience is available to add to your collection at a name-your-own-price point through the link in the player.

Another hot rockin preview teaser next, this time from Palisded. I've got a weak spot for Palisded's brand of 80s inspired synth work as it's minimalist nature is punctuated by it's beautifully conceived melodies and combine for a hypnotising elevatory experience. This new album displays these traits in each of the teased tracks. It's not too long to wait for the full album however, as it's due out on the 19th of December.

KFDDA keeps on upping his game with each shared track and his latest is definitely one of his strongest thus far. 'New Sights' eases into itself  through it's introductory passage but quickly finds a path of marching intent and melodic adventures within. I really love the freeform nature of the production that makes it feel lik a live jam yet it still retains a strong narrative. Great work and is currently available for FREE download.

A new compilation from Violent Success Productions called Retro Future is due out on the 3rd of December but I couldn't contain my excitement for two tracks off it from Droid Bishop and Crozet. The compilation contains no less than nineteen tracks from a huge variety of artists both familiar and unfamiliar to myself, and I'm really looking forward to experiencing the full package. For now though, we must rock the amazing new track from Droid Bishop, 'Days Of The Running Man'. The structure to this experience is absolutely jaw dropping with emotive melodies combining with lushly detailed synthscapes that are bursting with vibrant colours and energies.

Another awesome track off this compilation is 'Hold My Weight' from Crozet. This is a high speed adventure into Synth Romance with pastel crushes of synths and percussion melding with a delicate vocal track. The pop sensibilities of Crozet are very apparent as this experience is perfectly arranged for the absolute maximum emotional impact. It's anthemic and full of beauty, wonderful music.

Keeping things in the Synth Pop realm is the new song from the Some Desperate Glory side project Pacific Deep entitled 'Upgradeable'. These guys have really nailed the new romantic synth sounds of the early 80s with a poignant vocal track and a super catchy chorus. These music is authentic and full of homage to the classics of the day while adding a new layer of freshness to the mix.

To finish of this Weekend Update we have something from Le Matos, this is an old promo video for their 'Coming Soon' album that came out in 2011, but I just came across this and had to share it. The video is wonderfully implemented modern take on the original music video for Kenny Loggins 'Footloose' and this combined with the always amazing Le Matos magic makes for a sublimely rad experience.

Le Matos "88mph" music video from Le Matos on Vimeo.

That does us for another Weekend Update on Synthetix.FM, I'll be back during the forthcoming week with more rockin tunes from the 80s inspired synth scene. 'Til then, stay 80s and keep on rockin.

Join Le Matos

There are few groups in the 80s inspired synth scene with as much excitement around them as Le Matos. For the last couple of years a new Le Matos single shared on soundcloud was a red-letter-day as their grasp of classically styled synth music with their modern nuances created and intoxicating combination. Fervent adoration followed each successive single release as their styles matured and formed and now with their first full length record we finally get to see the full Le Matos picture and also the chance to appreciate what these producers are capable of.

The sound of Le Matos is not what I'd describe as authentically written 80s synth, however it is most definitely a large aspect of the productions. It's hard to put my finger on but there is something very Chemical Brothers like in their craftsmanship. Along with influences from a plethora of electronic music eras and this gives the Le Matos experience a different energy that really combines many worlds into one new one.

The soundscape is very progressive with many nods to turn to late 90s techno sounds and more recent French house motifs but the recurrent 80s elements combine things into a spectacular new experience that is consistently of a very high quality.

Join Us is the name of the record and I wholeheartedly offer myself to the Le Matos movement.

As a full length experience this album works like a futuristic soundtrack that dabbles in many genres but always remains focussed. The opening chapters definitely lend themselves to the late 90s UK electronic sound with melodic layers of 80s synths to add a more emotional dimension. This is very prominent in tracks like 'Interceptor' which crosses decades of sounds with each step. As Le Matos are a genuine band there are obviously many minds and influences are work in their music and I believe this is what gives them such a multidimensional appeal.

The soundscapes are very diverse in their make ups and executions, experiences are rarely revisited and instead Le Matos choose to forge new paths, fuelled by the past but looking to the future. The modern house  soundscapes are windswept by swirling synths that provide a great deal of detail and give a delicate tonality to the often unsympathetic marching percussion. It's this percussion and the extra layers of drama conveyed through the crashing of cymbals and drums, evidenced wonderfully succinctly in 'Overdog', that annunciate Le Matos in a manner that is impossible to ignore.

Tracks in Join Us haven been arranged with touches of deft genius. The powerhouse smash '58 Minutes Pour Vivre', which I personally have played many, many times over the last year is now given it's place amongst the newer stories and it fits in with absolute perfection. In fact, this new album version of this track allows the narrative to achieve a far more expansive context with the compositions either side of it. This rings true throughout the album and familiar experiences are all of sudden brand new in their album form.

The Le Matos sound is often epic in nature, with rises and falls that speak volumes and intimate ideas the are singularly enrapturing but when placed into a longer experience take on a new dimension that means so much more. Some music lends itself more to singles and EPs, encapsulating ideas and keeping the focal point concentrated, this kind of experience in a long form can sometimes dilute that focus and invite unevenness to the soundscape. I now realise the Le Matos style was designed for this extended format as it feels like the album is one story of many chapters.

The instruments used keep the presentation so wondrously epigrammatic, imbibing pristine clarity to the ideas of each movement. One of the high spots is the collaborative piece with Electric Youth. 'Light Again' is hypnotising electronica that harkens to the dance floor and the highway with a haunting vocal accented by glowing details whose trails echo organically.

The album's darker pieces also excite with their powerful refrains and frenetic drum patterns. Even though tracks like 'The Stuff' and the totally rockin 'Sarah' are made of more shadowy parts there is always a lightness in the atmosphere that adds counterpoint and prevents chapters from falling entirely into a void.  The drama is always apparent when it needs to be but it never drowns out the hope of the yearning melodies.

By the albums end an air of contentment is palpable. The journey has been full of excitement and enlightenment, taking the lessons of the old and tempering it with the sounds of the new to make something spectacularly accessible but also vastly deep. Nothing on this record feels unexplored or unfinished, the completeness of Join Us is one of it's most wonderful features and even though it's not obviously advertised it does work as a concept album or soundtrack magnificently well.

Join Us is thus far one of the best crossover albums I'm yet to hear. I can hear, see and feel so many different ages of electronic music in it's parts yet the balance is always perfect with each composition taking it's ideal place and it's own cues from the present and the past. Much like the now classic Temporarity album from Michael Cassette this record feels timeless and an entity unto itself. I look forward to revisiting this album many, many times in the coming years and allowing Le Matos to take me into their wonderful world where time is irrelevant and music is eternal.

Girlfriend Records presents Le Matos's Join Us album on their Bandcamp page here. This record is definitely a Synthetix Reference Experience and I hope it's record that you add not only your library but also your life and that in years to come you come back to this album as something still as special and fresh as it is today.

Synthetix Weekend Update

Massive amounts of hot tunes came rockin in from all parts of the planet during the last week, traversing a myriad of 80s sounds, styles and emotions. No time to delay this week as the doors are busted wide open with another seam splittingly gargantuan Weekend Update on Synthetix.FM!

A new Photosynthesi track is always cause for celebration and his latest work, Enrosadira, brings to mind all the reasons I love Photosynthesi's sounds. A highly energetic adventure that has some very detailed synth sounds and a tone full of magic and wonder. This is currently available for FREE download also, thanks very much Mr Photosynthesi!

Kid Machine's really kicking into high gear of late and his newest track is really rockin hard. 'Prism' is a full of classic sounds that cover light years of 80s styles. Beginning with an italo synth intro things give way to some epic soundtrack style melodies while break beats rock with an energy all their own and the last half even steps into electro moods. A highly ambitious piece that Kid Machine manages to make work seemingly effortlessly.

Cougar Synth keeps pumping out big sounds on a weekly basis and has really outdone himself with his just published Out Of Town. The drum track for this is absolutely rockin and the synth melodies form with a sparse approach that layers in perfectly. Full of mystery and intrigue Out Of Town is totally rockin place to be. Also available for FREE download!

Mirror Kisses are back with their own wonderful blend of 80s synth pop magic. 'Runaways' is a beautifully constructed song full of emotional synths and even more emotional vocals. Mirror Kisses along with Le Cassette  have all the right 80s sounds and constructs down and really set the scene standard for the classic New Romantic style synth pop.

Rocking into high gear with little regard for our own safety is an exceptionally kick arse new track from Perturbator and Flash Arnold going under the salacious title of Sexualizer. Perturbator is really pushing new areas for his sounds, the darkness of his earlier work is now replaced by action and drama while Flash Arnold adds even more rockin good times. This track is a non stop roller coaster ride of perfectly executed sounds and arrangements.

Digital Native Dance's own brand of electro synth sounds developed further with his first release for 2013: Scorched. This sequentially arranged piece presents a really killer hybrid of 80s sounds constructed with a modern context. The results are really superb and the sax melodies complete things marvellously.

Every week I get to hear a new Strenrekorder track my smile gets just a little bit wider  and his new track Small Talk is guaranteed to make you smile too. The sounds are totally perfect with a tone of purity that leads into an uncomplicated but wholly engaging experience. Text book Sternrekorder gold.

A new Mitch Murder experience is always going to make for rockin good times but his new production is something else entirely. 'In The Fast Lane' displays even further refinement to Mitch's more eclectic library-music influenced adventures. From the bassline to the stunning implemented synth flourishes I think Mitch Murder has finally found a slower more atmospheric style that still allows him to get crazy with complex and jazzy nuances. Magnificent to behold.

Gost's dark synth stylings have been one of my favourite discoveries this year and his track Day 30 keeps me coming back for more and more. Although of a darker palette, Day 30 also has an air of excitement more so than terror with a hugely catchy bassline and a mid point build that rocks totally to the max.

Fellow synthficionado Luigi Donatello had a terrific discovery this week in unearthing the ambiguously named Crust with their new song Lute. This band are totally killing the early 80s moody synth pop sounds with a perfect vocal track and excellent instrumentation. Definitely a group to watch out for! Thanks very much, Luigi!

Taking a turn into some more unfamiliar territory is a very engaging new piece from Rutger Megahertz. The eloquently titled 'Mitch's Swimwear Contest Of '84' is quite disturbing in it's tonal pastiche, with a lot of the sounds skewed into really kick arse new dimensions. Quite unlike anything else, this soundscape is totally k-rad to the max.

The ever superb Le Matos shared a new experience  this week in 'Molly'. Le Matos are definitely one of the best acts in the scene who get the balance between classic 80s and modern sounds working to perfection and Molly proves this even further. Gorgeous synth, rockin energy and Le Matos magic exuding from every second. Thanks very much to his majesty, Uncle TNUC, for the heads up!

Getting back to his own seaside home we find Plaisance returning the ocean he loves with his stunning new synthscape Deep Blue. Every new track from Plaisance adds something new and expands his horizons into beautiful new realms. The mood and vibe of Big Blue is welcoming and calming with an airy delight that we all know is pure Plaisance magic.

In what can only be described as a massively triumphant return to the scene we have a brand new teaser track from the inimitable Yan 'Mr Vector' Larson. This 'New Test' is obviously in it's early stages but having this talented producer back in action and rockin the scene is totally kick arse. Many thanks to Tommy for enlightening me to this new track.

And speaking of Tommy, the absolute highlight of this week in the 80s inspired synth scene was the announcement and preview release of Tommy's next EP to be released through Girlfriend Records this coming April. Tommy, in my opinion, has always been one of the true leaders of the scene as his individualised sounds always feel polished and totally immersive. The four tracks previewed here display even more development to the Tommy aesthetic and even in their truncated form offer much to think about. I'd also like to say that the 3rd piece beginning at 1:20 is one of the single most incredible pieces of music I'm yet to hear and can barely imagine what this will be like in it's fully realised form.

That does us for another rockin week on Synthetix.FM! I'll be back with more good times an great rock'n'roll next week and I hope you'll join me again to share in the wonders and magic of the 80s inspired synth scene. 'Til then, as always, stay 80s and keep on rockin!

Synthetix Weekend Update

After another exciting week in the 80s inspired synth scene we've arrived at another monstrous Weekend Update. It's a bumper crop of kick arse retro tunes, now with 25% extra rockin for even greater value! FDA approved and filling your daily dietary requirements of vitamins  R, A and D. Synthetix has been medically proven to increase the amount of 80s in your weekend by up to 100%, so don't hold back and pour another bowl of your favourite flavours with this week's Weekend Update on Synthetix!

First up is a bitchen new work of 80s drenched nu-disco with Syncroft's track Melbourne. This is glass-smooth experience of bouncing synth beauty with just enough jiggle to make it impossible to take your eyes off the prize. A little on the short side, but ever so sweet.

From the past comes the storms, as Sepultura once said, but in this case it's the Sky itself that has returned. In one of the more exciting things that happened this week Logan Sky announced his return to the 80s inspired synth scene with a preview of his Face The Flames album. Each track is full of promise and adventure, and I for one am really looking forward to the full experience.

Thomas Barrandon continues his musical journey with his wonderful new track Thast's All I See. This producer has alway been able to personalise his music and has proven his inventiveness and skill over the last few years in each of his tracks. His latest composition proves this theory even further.

Lost Years has embarked on a new odyssey with his latest demo: Breacher. The sounds on this track are exceptional, it's got such a bright and powerful energy. Even as a demo this track feels totally bitchen in how it tells it's own story and evolves into a rivetting example of aural action cinema.

The scene's latest synth superstar to gain household-level stardom has just released a stunning new interpretation of the theme Halloween. Perturbator's metoric rise is one he's certainly most deserving of and this latest experience is a prime example of his skill in creating expansive and terrifying dark synth magic. The second act of this piece is a flawless example of the raw power commanded by Perturbator.

Easing back into the light and safety of day time is Jordan F's latest remix. A classically 80s retelling of Yale's song Lost In The Crowd. I, personally, felt nothing for the original track, but Jordan F's managed to turn into something that feels quite authentic and really brings out the 80s soul in the song.

After one of the biggest years in his musical career thus far Alpha Boy has kicked off 2013 with a new solo track called Skyline. This track is beautifully crafted, I think displaying some new ideas and techniques from this composer. Alpha Boy has a collaborative release with Garth Knight surfacing in the near future too, which will surely be an exciting foray into some quality 80s sounds.

And hot off the presses is the latest release from Garth Knight himself! "You Just Came To Crash The Party" is an electro space jam with superb melodies and vocal perfection. Garth Knight's work in the electro synth funk styles just keeps on rockin harder and harder. Totally kick arse in every respect.

After premiering Pumping Body in last week's Weekend Update he's back with a sterling new track "Come On". The instant I heard this I fell in love with it. The sounds are beautifully authentic, but it's the arrangements and timing of the main melody that really shines throughout the track. Much like Plaisance's music, I find myself incredibly drawn to the sounds Pumping Body creates as the 80s authenticity seems to be innate in their creative process.

Future City Records are back with a two track EP from the latest addition to their stable with the Sidereal Race EP from Shio-Z. This two track release combines a lot of classic sounds and gives them a great deal of crossover to modern styles. It's something that doesn't fully gel with me on a personal level, perhaps it's the instrument sounds, but one can't deny the action and drama of Shio-Z's music as it definitely has a great deal of 80s energy coursing through it's veins.

To complete this week's weekend update we have a superb new video from the Neros77 for Le Matos' totally kick arse track from 2012: Sarah. The video magician has once again weaved a spell of perfect visual complementation to Le Matos music. Definitely one of Neros77's more spellbinding creations.

That does us for the Weekend Update on Synthetix this week. I'll be back to blast you into the future via the past next week, so keep on rockin and stay 80s!

Synthetix Weekend Update

Another exceptional week in the world of 80s inspired synth has elapsed, here are some of the major highlights in this week's Weekend Update.

Busting out the big guns right up front is the exceptional new track from Le Matos. This Canadian producer blew me away a few years ago with his stellar Quiet Earth and he's back with avengeance with his amazing new experience Sarah. The power, action and emotion of the 80s done to perfection.

Evanton's really becoming an act to be reckoned with in the field of 80s italo funk. This is now his thrid hit in a row on Synthetix: Flash! Another piece of disco funk brilliance that builds marvellously. Flash! will be released on the Magnetron EP soon, expect full coverage on Synthetix upon it's release.

DreamWave Dave is back with another 80s experiment in synth/guitar disco with Heatwave L.A.. This composition rocks a more indie pop synth angle, especially with it's bassline. The main thing is that it rocks and this is something it most certainly does do in spades. Available for FREE download too!

Silenx brought more 80s outrun action synth love into the world with his killer new single The Chase. This producer's sounds are always beautifully refined and the layer of gloss on this piece is no exception. I'm a HUGE sucker for key changes and this track has one of the most perfectly executed ones I've had the pleasure of experiencing in recent times.

Keeping the energy level at fever pitch is a new demo for Arc Neon's new piece No Going Back. The action enhances an inquisitive air that probes in many directions. I love the journey this takes the listener on and am greatly looking forward to it's further evolution.

Another exciting release to look forward to is Hot Hot Hawk and Patrick Baker's new venture Electric Touch. I get a bit too excited about anything Patrick Baker gets involved in, he seems to bring out my inner 80s teenage girl and every time I hear his music I want to put Patrick Baker posters up on my bedroom wall and go down the mall to talk to my friends about how dreamy he is. But I must digress as this piece promises Baker but is currently Baker-less, however even in this Baker-less form it's a gorgeous high energy synth pop experience and even truncated to a forty five second teaser is  massively promising.

Garth Knight's expanding his horizon's with a modern electro take on an electro funk 80s vibe that runs through his Transformer's inspired new single Galvatron. The bass slaps you in the face and the synths stab with robotic precision. Superb work.

Keeping with the 80s cartoon theme, Greetings Program released a scintillating rendition of the ending theme from Voltron. Epic and triumphant, just like the original and certainly full of that Greetings Program magic.

Ensuring that everything is 'right' with the world is the release of another beautiful synthsperience from LA Dreams. Glowing melodies and flawless arrangements are becoming standard fare with LA Dreams and Coast is no exception. Totally engaging synth romance of the highest calibre.

A new artist has surfaced through the Synthetix community on Facebook under the monicker 1985. Smooth disco synth sounds are what 1985 is all about and this producer has all the right moves. The track is available to buy on Bandcamp, I'm hoping this is the first of many new experiences from 1985.

Our final piece of synthtacular 80s magnifcence comes from another killer collaboration between Starforce and Dynatron. These guys work so well together I think they should seriously consider making a supergroup together. This new work cements this further as Celestial Time Lapse is a mirage of a million dimensions that defies the laws of space and time. The stella carresses of every moment of this track are sublime. If there ever becomes a fulltime DynaForce or StarTron I'll be first in line for a lifetime membership.

And that's us done for another huge week of 80s inspired synth music on Synthetix. I hope you've found some new favourites and rekindled some old memories, I'll be back again with more rockin action next week.
